MAKE USE OF TODAY

There is a time for everything, and season for every activity under heaven; a time to be born and to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot. Ecclesiastes 3:1 -2

A motivational plaque declares, ‘’yesterday is but a dream; tomorrow is a vision of hope; look to dis day for it is like.” This saying can be used to express the urgency of our lives as Christians if yesterday were Christmas, today Easter, and tomorrow we be living differently?

In C. S Lewis’ then Screw tape letters, the devil meets with his under-devils to plan how best to combat Christianity. Each under-devil is assigned the challenge to come up with a catchy slogan. One suggest, “There is no god.” The devil feels this would be hard to promote. Another suggests, ‘there is no devil.” Again the idea is rejected as not possible. The last little devil comes up with the slogan, “there is no hurry.” The perfect slogan to defeat Christianity!

We always feel that there will be time. We do not feel the urgency to share the gospel today. Would it make a difference if we knew that Christ was coming tomorrow? Whom do you know who needs to hear of Christ’s birth, death, resurrection, and second coming? There is a valid warning in that slogan from the screw tape Letters in no hurry. No hurry to share the gospel! No hurry to live thoroughly for Jesus. No hurry to embrace through righteousness and holiness.

No hurry to reconcile your ways with those you not in harmony with. All this is Satan’s greatest tool of deceit.
